Celtic are expected to bring in a new manager in the summer. And perhaps surprisingly, Roy Keane has been linked with the Parkhead job over the past couple of months.

The Manchester United legend was one of the best players of his generation. But he does not have the same experience or success as a manager. He has only managed Sunderland and Ipswich Town in the past and both of these roles were over a decade ago.

Since then, he has served as the assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland national team, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest. And it is very possible that he could have improved a lot as a manager along the way. But even then, it would be a massive risk on the part of the Glasgow giants to appoint him.

That did not stop him from being considered as one of the favourites to get the job. But now, it looks like that might not be the case. As reported by The Times, chances of him being named the Hoops’ new manager are looking increasingly unlikely.

Keane might not be the right man for the Celtic job at this point of time

Celtic are facing a massive summer rebuild, with a new manager, new players, a director of football expected to come in while the retiring Peter Lawwell will also be replaced by Dominic McKay.

As a result, the Hoops need to bring in someone who can come in and immediately steady the ship. After losing the Premiership title to the Rangers with six games to spare, the club must be keen to bounce back as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, Keane might not be the man for the Parkhead job at this point of time. He has not been the manager of a club for over a decade. And it will be interesting to see who the Glasgow giants ultimately end up appointing.
