A number of managers have been linked with Celtic over the past several months. This has ranged from the likes of Eddie Howe to Rafa Benitez and from Frank Lampard to Roy Keane.

Now, undoubtedly, there are some very interesting names doing the rounds. But one man who has not been mentioned much is Granada manager Diego Martinez, who is currently doing wonders with the Spanish side.

He took over at the club in 2018 and immediately helped them to a La Liga promotion by finishing second in the Spanish Segunda Division or second division. The club’s return to the top division of Spanish football was a massive success as well as they finished the season in 7th position. This season, they currently sit at 8th but it is in Europe that they have done incredibly well.

Granada have managed to make it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League, which is an incredible achievement considering the fact that it is the club’s first ever season of European football.

Celtic should definitely consider Martinez

What the 40-year-old manager has achieved at the club over the past few years is incredible. And according to Transfermarkt his current contract is set to run out this summer (June 30, 2021), meaning he will be a free agent soon unless he agrees a new deal with Granada.

If he does indeed become a free agent, then it would not be surprising to see some of the biggest sides in Spain be after him. But Celtic should definitely give it a consideration as well.

He is a young manager who has done spectacularly till now. Before his time at Granada, he also served as the assistant manager of Sevilla, as well as the manager of the Sevilla B, Sevilla C and their youth team. He also had a stint at Osasuna in 2017/18. Thus, he has his fair share of experience in the bag as well.
