Rumours have gathered pace regarding a Celtic exit for Scott Brown recently. His contract is set to run out at the end of the season and it is starting to look like he could very well join Aberdeen, where he will have a player-coach role.
This is bad news for the Hoops. They are staring at a summer rebuild and a transitional season as well. In the midst of all this, losing their long-term captain will surely be a massive blow.
Even now, Brown remains a massive part of the first-team picture at the club. And if they do plan to start to slowly replace him, even then his experience will be incredibly important off the pitch if they are to return to the top of Scottish football quickly.
Tam McManus has reportedly talked with him already regarding him being a player as well as a number two in the coaching staff. And it looks like Brown is confident in his ability to do the job. While speaking with PLZ Soccer and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, McManus said:
"“I think he would be a great ambassador for Aberdeen, it’s just a great fit for me, but whether Scott can do number two and playing, I don’t think he can. I’ve already spoke to him about this.“He seems to believe that he can be the number two and play but I think that would be very difficult, so I’m wondering if Stephen would keep Paul Sheerin there. I don’t know if they know each other, but he could be the number two and maybe have Broony as a first-team coach, dipping in and out, doing session here and there.“For him to be a number two and play every week I think is very, very difficult. I think it leaves Stephen Glass a bit exposed on the touchline as well.”"

Losing Brown would be a massive blow to Celtic
Brown has been the captain of Celtic for over a decade now and lifted one trophy after the other during his time at the club. Thus, it would be sad to see him leave after a season where the Hoops failed to deliver at all and ended up losing the title to the Rangers.
Completing the 10IAR would have been perhaps the perfect ending to his Celtic career. And while nothing is official yet regarding a departure, the growing rumours do suggest that a move away from Parkhead is very much on the cards.
If it does indeed happen, it will be an emotional departure for everybody involved. But if this is what Brown decides to do, then we can only wish him the best of luck and thank him for all the memories over the years.
