Perhaps the biggest topic of discussion surrounding Celtic right now is about who the club’s next manager will be. Neil Lennon stepped down from his role in the middle of the season, leaving John Kennedy in interim charge of the team.

While Kennedy could be handed the role on a permanent basis if performances and results improve drastically over the next couple of months or so, at this point of time, it looks likely that a new manager will be brought in.

Dermot Desmond took part in an interview with the club’s website, responding to questions and issues raised by the supporters.

When asked about when we can expect the appointment of a manager, he said as reported by the Celtic website:

"“As with any key appointment at Celtic, there is a process which involves research, investigation, interviewing and negotiation. This process is underway and is taking place privately and when complete, the Board will make a public announcement.”"

He also revealed who will be in charge of the process, with incoming CEO Dominic McKay set to play a part in the decision:

"“The Chairman Ian Bankier, Peter Lawwell and myself take a lead in the process, and naturally, the incoming CEO will also participate. Any decision made will require Board approval.”"

Who will be the next Celtic manager?

The two things that we learned from Desmond’s interview regarding the managerial situation is that the selection process for appointing a new manager appears to be underway and McKay is set to play a part in the matter.

Who will be the next manager? That still remains to be seen and we will probably only find out near the or at the end of the campaign.

A number of names have been floated around the media over the past several weeks including the likes of Rafa Benitez, Eddie Howe, Chris Wilder, Enzo Maresca, Frank Lampard, Steve Clarke, just to name a few. And we can only hope that whoever it is, turns things around quickly and the club are back competing for the Premiership title as soon as possible, after losing the title race to Steven Gerrard’s side with 6 games to spare this time around despite 10IAR being up for grabs.
