Celtic are expected to sign a number of new players over the course of the next few months as they aim to rebuild and return to the top of Scottish football as soon as possible after losing the Premiership title to the Rangers in disappointing fashion this season.
While big moves are expected as well, for the time being they have been linked with youngsters whose contracts are set to run out in the summer. They have already managed to agree a pre-contract with Sheffield Wednesday’s Liam Shaw.
And it was believed that they could soon get a deal done for Thomas Robert as well. The 20-year-old had a trial at the club and has been linked with them for quite some time. But now, it looks like a move has been put on hold.
As reported by the Daily Record, it looks like the Hoops won’t make a final decision on a contract offer for Robert until they are able to appoint a director of football and a manager.

Robert faces wait for potential Celtic transfer
The son of former Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United star, Laurent Robert, the 20-year-old surprisingly left Montpellier to join Scottish League One side Airdrieonians last summer.
The intent was clearly to get regular minutes in first-team football and show what he was capable of. In that regard, the move can be considered a success for the youngster.
In 15 appearances this season, he has scored 4 goals and provided a couple of assists, and has clearly been impressive enough for Celtic to consider making a move for him. It remains to be seen whether that will eventually happen though.
At the end of the day, this is best for everybody involved though. It would not be good for the development of the young winger if he signs for the club but then is not in the plans of the new manager.
