It was the second straight Glasgow Derby that Celtic were the better team in and had the better chances to come out of the game with all three points. And yet, victory eluded the Hoops. They did go one step further this time around though and manage a draw against Steven Gerrard’s side.
Mohamed Elyounoussi opened the scoring with a beautiful header in what was a well worked move from the Hoops. But then, their old ghosts haunted them once again.
Poor decision making at the back from Jonjoe Kenny ended up giving the Rangers a corner, from which they equalised. Alfredo Morelos was the man who found the back of the net in what his first goal against Celtic.
Here are three things we learned from the game:
Celtic need a new manager
The overall performance from Celtic was not bad. But this just looks like a side that is lacking ideas at the moment, both on and off the pitch.
It is clear that this team needs a new manager to bring in fresh ideas along with him. At this point, John Kennedy does not seem to be doing a lot of things different to Neil Lennon.

Both finishing and defence remain a worry
These are two areas which have been a massive weakness for the club this season. Just like the last Glasgow Derby, the Hoops had the majority of the chances in this game as well. But they just could not take them. The team just needs to polish up on their finishing at the moment.
On the other end of the pitch, they have continued to concede goals that were easily avoidable. Whoever the manager is next season must work on that as well because they cannot compete for titles with a shaky defence.
Mohamed Elyounoussi must remain at Parkhead beyond this season
Elyounoussi has been in and out of the team this season but that has been mostly down to the system and not his individual performances. Yes, he can go cold in certain games but overall, his impact is undeniable.
In 38 appearances this season, he has scored 14 goals and provided 6 assists, averaging a goal contribution every 101 minutes or so. That is impressive for any player and he could prove to be a huge asset to the club if the next manager’s system involves playing wingers.
