The answer to the big question about who will follow Neil Lennon and John Kennedy in the Celtic managerial hot seat next season is still unknown. The only certainty is of increasing rumours and debate about potential contenders as we get nearer to the summer.

Some of the people being mentioned are likely candidates and may well want the Parkhead job. Others might just be rumours. The difficulty is in working out which is what. David Moyes is a good example.

There was talk of him being considered for the role in the past. When Brendan Rodgers left, there seemed to be a strong prospect of Moyes becoming the Celtic manager.

Fans seemed less keen back then, with Moyes struggling at multiple clubs after leaving Everton. Things have changed drastically since then though. His West Ham United side are flying high in the Premier League at the moment and Moyes could well be a shining example of giving a manager time to build a team.

Could a move to Celtic ‘tempt’ Moyes?

While his side are looking set to challenge for a Champions League spot, would he be interested in the Celtic job now? Of course, any move is very unlikely to happen if The Hammers do end up securing European qualification for next season.

As reported by the Daily Record, speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex-WHU Employee claimed that he does not believe Moyes would ultimately join The Hoops in the summer even if a move did tempt him:

"“Don’t think so, I think he wants to stay at West Ham.“Celtic is obviously a massive club and it’s quite easy to go and be either Celtic or Rangers manager where you pretty much know that no matter what you do you’re going to be in the top two.“I think he would be tempted but I don’t think he would go.”"

That may well be the case and nobody can blame Moyes if that was his decision to be honest. But then there is a case to be made for him moving to Parkhead as well.

Securing Champions League football or even Europa League football would be a massive achievement, especially considering how they were expected to be in the middle of a relegation battle at the start of the season. But maintaining this kind of form will be very difficult over a longer period of time.

On the other hand, Celtic could offer him the chance to compete for trophies on a consistent basis, something which he has not done through the course of his 22-year career in management. For the time being though, it does look unlikely that he will end up at Parkhead in the summer.
