After Neil Lennon left the club in the middle of a disappointing campaign, Celtic are looking to find their next manager over the next few months and a number of names have been linked with the Parkhead job in the recent past.
But many believe that current Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch should be given a shot. As The Hoops look to rebuild, the manager has certainly left the door open for a move to Parkhead.
The 47-year-old’s first significant job in coaching was leading the New York Red Bulls from 2015 until 2018, where he won the 2015 MLS Supporters’ Shield. After a brief stint as an assistant manager at RB Leipzig, Marsch joined Red Bull Salzburg, where he has enjoyed great success till now.
After being mentioned by John Collins, the rumours have grown. When speaking with BBC, Marsch admitted how humbling it was to be linked with Celtic:
"“I’ve heard [about the links]. It’s an honour for me.“Three or four years ago, being linked with a club like Celtic would literally be an impossibility for me. And now that this is where I am, I always just try to look at it in terms of, ‘what would the project look like?“Would we have similar ideas in how to build it the right way, invest in the academy, invest in young players and create this development process that I’m talking about? And not just focus on winning.”"

Marsch could be a great option for Celtic
Highlighting the success of Marsch has been Erling Haaland. Prior to signing for Borussia Dortmund, Haaland was signed by Salzburg, where he scored 29 goals in 27 appearances before he moved to the Bundesliga giants.
Marsch guided Salzburg to the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup last season and currently sit at the top of the league this season, five points clear of Rapid Vienna.
The door could now be open for Celtic to approach Marsch about the possibility of a move. The opportunity to bring in a manager of his quality does not come around often. He has shown a lot of potential as a manager and the Hoops must at least try to make the move happen.
He has drawn interest from Germany already, but the project at Parkhead could end up intriguing him. And when you look at who the club have been linked with, Marsch may be the best of all the options available.
