After Neil Lennon stepped down in the middle of a disappointing campaign, John Kennedy finds himself as the interim manager of Celtic. But unless performances and results improve drastically over the next couple of months, it is unlikely that he will be handed the role on a permanent basis.
A number of managers have been linked with the Parkhead job over the past several months. These have ranged from Rafa Benitez to Frank Lampard, and Steve Clarke to Chris Wilder. But one rumour that has been doing the rounds longer than most is that of Eddie Howe.
The former Bournemouth manager is a free agent at this point of time and the Hoops were being linked with him even when Lennon was still at the club. But a move is yet to take place.
While speaking on the Celtic Huddle Podcast, Journalist Derek McGregor put forward a theory about why the move has not taken place yet. As reported by Celts Are Here, he said:
"“I think Eddie Howe is keeping an eye on a number of Premier League positions down south, I think possibly that’s the reason why he’s not ready to commit to Celtic if he has been approached or sounded out.”"

Howe would be a terrific appointment for Celtic
Howe is one of the most highly-rated free agent managers around at the moment and if the Hoops managed to get a deal for him over the line, it would be viewed as a major coup on their part.
During his two stints at Bournemouth, he managed to take them from League Two to the Premier League in a relatively short space of time and kept them in the English top division for five years. That is a huge achievement for any manager.
As a result of this though, it is only natural that he would be wanted by other Premier League clubs and has been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace and Newcastle United recently as well.
The Hoops can provide him with the chance to manage in the Champions League though, if he can successfully guide them through the qualification phase.
