Celtic are expected to bring in a new manager in the summer as they aim to return to the top of Scottish football once again after losing the league to the Rangers with six games to spare.

In this regard, a lot of managers have been linked with the club. These have included names like Eddie Howe, Chris Wilder, Frank Lampard, Rafa Benitez, Roberto Martinez, among many others. But in the midst of all of them, Roy Keane has also emerged as a rumoured candidate for the Parkhead job.

The Premier League legend, of course, has a history with the club, having played for the Hoops for a short period of time but managing to win two trophies. And now, he is being linked with the managerial job at Celtic, despite not having managed a club for over a decade now.

As reported by talkSPORT, Simon Jordan feels that Keane is done as a manager:

"“Roy Keane going into management the first time around, possibly, but the Roy Keane we’ve got now? I think as a football manager he’s done.“You can look at Roy’s managerial record and take in any which way. When he went into Sunderland he had an immense impact for a short period of time because they were languishing at the bottom of the league. If you look at the impact of a short-term appointment, he did that.“But then you look at when he went to Ipswich and it was the converse, he did a job that ultimately wasn’t of the greatest ilk.”"

He also does not believe that Keane is the man for the Parkhead job:

"“I don’t dispute Roy Keane is a serious individual, but I don’t think he’s got the skill set to give Celtic what they really need.”"

Keane might not be the man that Celtic need at this point of time

Keane has previous experience of being a first-team manager at Sunderland and Ipswich Town. Other than that, he has also served as an assistant manager for the Republic of Ireland national team, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

But he has not been a first-team manager for over a decade now, with his term at Ipswich Town coming to an end back in January of 2011.

At this point of time, Celtic need someone who can come in and quickly steady the ship. Is Keane that man? Most probably not.

There is no question that he was a world class player but he does not have the experience as a manager that the Hoops require at this point of time, as they aim to steer through a transitional season while also challenging for trophies at the same time.
