Celtic are reportedly interested in signing 18-goal striker

Celtic might have to sign a number of players in the summer transfer window as they face a rebuild and the challenge of winning back the Premiership title from the Rangers even in a transitional season.

One position that might need immediate reinforcement in the summer is striker, with Odsonne Edouard expected to leave the club with only a little over a year left on his current contract at this point of time.

The Frenchman has been the talisman for the Hoops for the past few seasons. And even though he has not been at the top of his game through the course of this campaign, he has still managed to find the back of the net 20 times. This is also the third straight season that he has crossed the 20-goal mark for the club.

Thus, it will be quite a tough task to replace him. And according to 90 Min, Hatayspor striker Aaron Boupendza is someone that the club is eyeing.

Celtic linked with Hatayspor’s Aaron Boupendza

Boupendza has been in terrific form this season, scoring 18 goals in 26 appearances in the Super Lig, the Turkish first division. He is the top scorer of the league at this point of time and what is even more impressive is the fact that Hatayspor are sixth in the table.

Formerly at Bordeaux, Boupendza failed to make a single appearance for them. It was only in August of last year that he signed with Hatayspor and it is safe to say that the 24-year-old has taken to the Turkish league like a duck to water.

Celtic will have a lot of competition for the striker though, as Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves, Leicester City, West Ham United, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and Crystal Palace have all been linked with him, while the Rangers are also reportedly interested. Thus, it will be quite a coup if the Hoops do manage to pull off a Boupendza transfer in the summer.
