With a number of players expected to depart Celtic over the course of the next few months, it is clear that the club will have to bring in new faces as well in order to fill the void left behind by the departures.

Two players who have already left the club though are Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed. While the Dutch youngster joined Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that could reportedly rise to £11.5 million with add-ons, the Israel international returned to Hapoel Be’er Sheva after finding it difficult to adjust to life in Scotland.

Both of them were right-backs and currently Jonjoe Kenny, on loan from Everton, is playing in that position for the Hoops. It is clear though, that they will have to make a permanent signing there in the summer and one name who had been linked with the club in recent weeks is that Milan van Ewijk.

It looks like there is very little hope of that move taking place though, as the player does not want to leave Netherlands at this point of time. While talking with Dutch outlet VoetbalZone and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said:

"“The Netherlands is a familiar environment for me. That is why I would prefer to learn here instead of abroad, where I don’t know anyone at all.“I want to grow gradually as a player and as a person. I do sometimes hear there are clubs (interested in me) but I leave that to my father and my agent – I prefer to stay in the Netherlands now.”"

Celtic need to sign a right-back in the summer

Van Ewijk currently plays for Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag. And the 20-year-old is a regular for them, having scored once and provided 2 assists in 26 appearances this season.

Despite interest from abroad, it appears that he wants to remain in the Netherlands at this stage of his career. As a result, the Hoops will have to look elsewhere when it comes filling their requirement at right-back.

Kenny has done well since moving to Parkhead, but with Everton to rate him at around £10 million, it is unlikely that Celtic will go after him. Thus, do not be surprised to see rumours crop up linking a different right-back with a move to Parkhead over the next few weeks.
