So many comments have been made now that the league is officially lost for Celtic. And to be honest, there have not been many positives to take out of this season. Two former stars have backed them to turn things around quickly though.

The comments come after what has been a bad weekend for Hoops fans. Even though we all knew that the league was virtually over and were braced for it, it was disappointing to see it happen in a goalless draw against Dundee United. Now, the only thing that they can hope for is to win the upcoming Glasgow Derby and finish the season strong.

In amongst all the takes and comments, Roy Keane and Tony Mowbray appear to be confident about the Hoops’ chances going forward.

As reported by talkSPORT, Keane said:

"“Obviously it’s been a tough year for Celtic but they’ll bounce back next year like all great clubs do.”"

Former Celtic player and manager, Mowbray, appeared to be sure about the club’s fans reacting next season after losing the title to the Rangers this time around although he does admit that a lot is riding on the board’s decisions. While speaking on Sky Sports Scotland and as reported by Herald Scotland, he said:

"“Scott Brown must have sore arms lifting all those trophies for the past nine years.“The tables have turned for this season. Rangers can enjoy it for a few weeks and then when it starts again that is the competition.“The fans have to take it on the chin at this moment. They will react and they will be passionate as ever about their club.“The people in the power at Celtic have to make the right choice for their head coach and get everything behind the scenes back in place so that the challenge next year isn’t a 20 point deficit.”"

Celtic will have to make a lot of changes next season

It is good to see that both Keane and Mowbray are confident about the club moving forward but at the end of the day, they will have to change things up and make the right decisions to make sure that they are back challenging for the Premiership next season.

This time around, the gap between the two Glasgow sides has been too wide. It stands at 20 points right now with the possibility of increasing even further over the next few weeks. Now, the task is not only to close down this gap but overcome it, in a short space of time.

Let’s hope the board are up to the task because nobody will want to lose back-to-back titles.
