After the disappointing season that they have endured, Celtic are expected to undergo a lot of changes over the course of the next few months. And that is required, if they are to return to the top of Scottish football next season, after losing the title at the hands of the Rangers in convincing fashion this time around.
A number of players are expected to leave and hopefully will be replaced by new faces. One exit that there were not too many rumours about though, was that of Andrew Gutman.
The Hoops had signed the American left-back in 2019 after an impressive college career. But he never managed to make an appearance for the club due to work permit issues and was away on loan for the entire period of the time.
Now, he has finally completed a switch to the MLS by joining Atlanta United, and was immediately sent on loan to the New York Red Bulls. Atlanta United confirmed the news on their official website.

Gutman never managed to play for Celtic despite being with the club since 2019
Gutman actually had a very impressive loan spell at FC Cincinnati and probably could have made a mark at Celtic, especially with the club’s recent problems at left-back. But unfortunately, he could not get a work permit.
After more than two years of having him under contract, it looks like the Hoops decided that it was time to move on and let him join Atlanta United on a permanent basis.
Sometimes, things just don’t work out and that is what happened with Gutman during his time with the Glasgow giants. It would have been great to see him play for the team but it was not to be.
We can only wish him the best of luck moving forward and hope that he has a brilliant career ahead of him.
