Celtic’s 10IAR hopes are now officially over as the Rangers have been crowned the Premiership champions after John Kennedy’s side could only manage a 0-0 draw against Dundee United. And while this will hurt for quite some time, the focus must now turn towards next season and winning back the league title.

It is undeniable that things have gone a bit stale for the Hoops this season and a new manager is expected to come in in the summer in order to bring new ideas with him and shake things up. At this point of time, that is exactly what the club need.

One name who has been constantly linked with the club, from even as early as last year, is Eddie Howe. The former Bournemouth manager is currently a free agent and would come with a big reputation from his time in England.

Is he the right man for the job though? Frank McAvennie certainly appears to believe so. As reported by Football Insider, he said:

"“I would be delighted if Eddie Howe came in.“He plays the right brand of football and that is very important.“We are renowned for our style of football. When I was at Celtic big Billy McNeill told me it is not just about winning, it is about the way that you win. There has to be a bit of cavalier, a bit of style to it.“I think Eddie Howe would bring that. The brand of football he brought to Bournemouth was a joy to watch.”"

Eddie Howe would be the right man for Celtic but the correct recruitment of players is important as well

Howe certain ticks a lot of the boxes when it comes to what Celtic are looking for in their next manager. He did a brilliant job, taking Bournemouth from League Two to the Premier League and keeping them there for five seasons. That is an amazing achievement.

Fans should be delighted if the club are able to appoint Howe and he could possibly prove to be a manager near the level of Brendan Rodgers.

But the recruitment of the correct players will also be very important. As we saw this summer, just signing good players is not enough. You have to sign players who fit the style of the football being played by the club. Shane Duffy is a good example of this.

Howe is a great manager but he is no magician. The board will need to provide him with the right squad to take Celtic back to the top of Scottish football.
