Celtic could manage only a 0-0 draw against Dundee United, meaning with 6 league games left to be played, the Rangers are now the champions of Scotland, ending all hopes of 10IAR officially.

Not many would seen this coming at the start of the season to be honest. But this is football at times. A game that provides pain and pleasure in equal measure.

The focus of The Hoops must now turn towards next season. While there are expected to be many changes at the club, they cannot treat it like a transitional season. Not after having surrendered the title to their Glasgow rivals by points in double digits.

Incidentally, the next game for the two sides is the Glasgow Derby at Parkhead. And naturally, it will raise questions about the possibility of a guard of honour as the game gets closer. Judging from his comments reported by Glasgow Times, John Kennedy does not even appear to be thinking about it at the moment though:

"“I’m not interested in it right now to be honest.”"

Celtic must win the next game

Celtic were at the other end of the same scenario a couple of seasons back when they had won the title but the Rangers did not give them a guard of honour. Thus, they cannot be blamed for doing the same this time around.

Their aim for the game though should be to come out with a win. At the end of the day, there is no pressure on them anymore. The league is gone and they should finish second comfortably.

On the other hand, despite winning the title, the Rangers still have the chance to go the league season unbeaten, which will come with a bit of pressure at least. That is what the Hoops have the opportunity to prevent when Steven Gerrard’s side come visiting on March 21st. Let’s hope that they rise to the occasion.
