Celtic are expected to make a number of changes in the upcoming summer transfer window as the focus will be on winning back the Premiership title from the Rangers, who could win the league as early as tomorrow if The Hoops fail to get all three points against Dundee United.
While a number of new faces will hopefully arrive at Parkhead, a number of high-profile players are expected to leave as well. And that includes the club’s talisman, Odsonne Edouard.
The Frenchman has scored more than 20 goals in three straight seasons. But with just a year left on his contract at the end of this season, it is very likely that the club will decide to let him move instead of risking seeing him walk out for free a year later.
Leicester City, currently managed by Brendan Rodgers, are a club that are interested in signing Edouard. And it looks like they even made a transfer bid of around £14 million although that has reportedly been rejected by the Hoops. While talking on The Transfer Window Podcast and as reported by This is Futbol, Ian McGarry revealed:
"“We can now reveal that it is our understanding that Leicester City have had a formal bid rejected for the Celtic striker.“The bid was around £14 million with Celtic valuing the player £11 million more than that at £25 million. Obviously, Brendan Rodgers had Edouard as one of his key players when he was still at Celtic.”"

Celtic have reportedly rejected Leicester City’s offer for Odsonne Edouard
Now, the club rejecting the offer for Edouard does not mean that they will keep hold of him. Because with just a little over a year left on his current contract, they might be left with no other choice but to let him join another club in the summer.
But this clears up one thing and that is, the Hoops will not let the Frenchman for £14 million. Last summer, he was valued at around £30 million and although that might have gone down since then, it does feel like they can get north of £20 million for a player who has been so consistent over the last several seasons and is the all-time record scorer for France Under-21s.
Let’s just hope that if or when Edouard does leave, the club is able to bring in a player who is capable of replacing him. Because that certainly is not an easy task.
