Frank Lampard is undoubtedly a name that will bring out mixed reactions within the Celtic support, with regards to the possibility of him being the next manager of the club. Despite this, he could turn out to be an intelligent appointment by the Hoops board should any approach come to fruition in the near future.

Ability to nurture younger players will be a pivotal element that any new manager at Parkhead will need to contend with going forward. While in charge of Chelsea, the 42-year-old played a crucial role in the development of the likes of Mason Mount, Billy Gilmour, Reece James, Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who have all become important first-team players at Stamford Bridge.

This may spell good news for some of the talented youngsters at Parkhead, who have not been given enough opportunities to shine. In terms of on-field results, his record is actually reasonably impressive when taking all circumstances into account, and let’s not focus only on how his time at the club came to an end after a poor run of form. And one could argue that he did deserve more time after his accomplishments in the previous season.

Under a transfer ban and with Eden Hazard having left for Real Madrid, the Blues legend led a young side to a fourth-place finish in 2019/20 alongside the FA Cup final, representing a very successful season for a side that was tipped to finish outside the top six by many at the beginning of the campaign.

Lampard good be a good fit at Celtic

Largely, he was able to accomplish this feat by creating a distinct footballing identity within his youthful side alongside having faith in the process. Any return to domestic glory for the Hoops will require patience and belief in the long-term ambitions at the football club, which could in turn suit Celtic and Lampard perfectly.

Celtic are expected to undergo a massive overhaul in the summer, in turn affording the new boss more time to get things right as they look to create a sustainable model that can uphold the standards of the club for the foreseeable future and hopefully make them a force in Europe once again.

Lastly, Lampard is someone who has won everything that English and European football has to offer. Probably the greatest ever Chelsea player, his knowledge of high expectations and tendency to thrive under pressure have been proven time and time again. He could well be the one to bring the title back to Parkhead should he take the managerial hot seat.
