After a nightmare season, next summer promises to be one filled with changes when it comes to Celtic. Following the departure of Neil Lennon last week, a new manager is expected to be appointed although there is the possibility that John Kennedy could be handed the permanent role if he impresses as interim manager. Peter Lawwell will step down from his role as well and will be replaced by Dominic McKay.

There will be multiple changes on the pitch as well. A number of high-profile names like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie could end up heading for the Parkhead exit while loan deals will be coming to an end as well.

Naturally, the club will need to replace these players. For the time being, it looks like they have agreed a pre-contract agreement with Sheffield Wednesday’s Liam Shaw. And another teenager who could be headed towards Parkhead is Wigan Athletic’s Kyle Joseph.

The striker has managed to impress although Wigan have endured a terrible campaign and currently find themselves at the bottom of the League One table. And with his contract set to expire at the end of this season, he has drawn the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Celtic are reportedly leading the race for Joseph

In 14 League One appearances, Joseph has scored 5 goals and provided an assist as well andPremier League giants like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City have been linked with the teenager recently. But as reported by Glasgow Live, Celtic appear to be leading the race for his signature.

To be honest, it is not hard to see why the teenager could end up choosing the Hoops over other clubs. At the end of the day, if first-team football is what he is looking for at this stage of his career over anything else, Parkhead might be the place for him to develop.

With Edouard expected to leave in the summer, there will be a void at striker for Celtic. Can he fill the Frenchman’s boots at 19 years of age? Probably not but then you never know about these things. Different players develop at different points.
