Ever since Kieran Tierney sealed a £25 million move to Arsenal a couple of summers back, left-back has been an area of weakness for Celtic. A number of players have been signed but not have quite managed to make the position their own.

Boli Bolingoli was signed as the replacement for the outgoing Tierney but his career in Scotland has not gone to plan, both on and off the pitch.

At this point of time, Greg Taylor appears to be the first choice left-back at the club although he has received his fair share of criticism as well. And it is safe to say that Diego Laxalt has faded away after making a promising start to his time at Parkhead, and it is very likely that he won’t be returning next season when his loan spell is over.

Thus, it won’t be a surprise if they end up going for another left-back in the near future. And according to the Mirror, that man can end up being Stade Brest’s Romain Perraud, as the Hoops are reportedly keen on him. Leeds United also appear to be interested in him.

Perraud could be a great signing for Celtic

The French left-back has been very impressive this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 5 assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances. And those performances have managed to catch the eye of one of the biggest clubs in the world in the form of Real Madrid.

As reported by Defensa Central, Perraud has been scouted by the Spanish giants for months. And thus, it will be quite a coup for Celtic if they can pull off a move for the left-back.

Celtic had been linked with him back in 2019 as well but did not end up making a move. But after his impressive performances this season in the top flight of French football, they might go for him this time around.

After all, judging by the clubs that he is being linked with, he could be quite a player for the Hoops and the left-back that they have been searching for.
