Celtic are looking to bring in a new manager in the summer after the resignation of Neil Lennon last week with John Kennedy currently in interim charge. And although he could be handed the role permanently if he manages to pull off an impressive finish to the season, a number of high-profile names have been linked with the club in recent weeks as well.

According to the Daily Record, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has emerged as a surprise contender for the Celtic job when it comes to the bookmakers.

After spending almost nine years in the Clarets’ dugout, there has been speculation that he may move on at the conclusion of this campaign. So, could Burnley be set for a change in direction?

Undoubtedly, Dyche would be something of a left-field appointment for the Hoops. In his time at Turf Moor, it is fair to say that he has done a brilliant job to turn Burnley into Premier League regulars. This may appeal to the Hoops board, who are looking to get things back on track after a nightmare 10IAR campaign.

Is Dyche the right man for the Celtic job?

There will be certain questions about Dyche as well when it comes to taking the job at Parkhead. Firstly, he has never managed at a club where the team is expected to win almost every game. Secondly, is his direct style of football suited to the club.

Other high-profile names like Eddie Howe, Rafa Benitez, Frank Lampard, Robert Martinez and many others have been linked with the job as well and you would have to wonder whether Dyche is a better choice than them.

One things is for sure though. He is someone who has proven himself at the Premier League level and fans should be delighted if the club manage to pull off the appointment of a manager of his stature.
