One name who has been constantly linked with the Celtic managerial job over the past several months is current Scotland national team boss, Steve Clarke. And after guiding the national team to the EUROs, their first major tournament since the 1998 World Cup, it is not hard to see why certain people would be keen to bring him to Parkhead.
But while Clarke is certainly a good manager, there are questions regarding his style of football and how well it would fit in at Parkhead.
Having worked with Jose Mourinho in the past, Clarke’s philosophy is pretty similar to that of the Portuguese manager. His teams are built on solid defenses and while it is not an eye-catching brand of football, it is certainly effective.
Clarke is set to manage the Scotland national team in this year’s EURO finals though and has spoken regarding the links to Celtic amidst all this. And while he did not rule out a move altogether, it does not look like he has any plans to head to Parkhead in the foreseeable future. As reported by the Daily Record, when asked about the possibility of the move, he said:
"“I will be going on a long holiday after the Euros.“And I am contracted with Scotland until 2022, when I’ll hopefully be taking us to the World Cup in Qatar.”"

It looks unlikely that Clarke will join Celtic at the end of the season
Clarke’s comments suggest that he is fully focused on the national team at this point of time and he will aim to remain with them till the end of his contract.
Thus, this is another name that Celtic can rule out when it comes to the appointment of their next manager. Fortunately for them though, there have been a lack of names being linked with the Hoops over the past several months.
Eddie Howe, Rafa Benitez, Frank Lampard and Roberto Martinez are just a few of them.
Although, while the club are indeed expected to bring in a new manager in the summer, it would be wrong to rule out John Kennedy’s chances of getting the role on a permanent basis.
