It has been a nightmare season for Celtic as they look set to lose the Scottish Premiership title to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and are already out of every other competition as well. As a result, there is a very real possibility that after winning a Quadruple Treble, the club could end up trophyless this time around.

But it looks like the Hoops could still win silverware in the 2020/21 campaign, after the Scottish Football Association confirmed the return of the Scottish Cup in March.

Undoubtedly this news will provide some positivity to the support and hierarchy alike. Winning the competition would provide some much-needed distraction from the club’s failure to lift 10IAR.

Additionally, the Hoops getting their hands on some silverware potentially breeds crucial winning momentum to take into the 2021/22 campaign.

Celtic must win the Scottish Cup

Confidence has been low over the past few months. Conceivably, being able to achieve success as a collective in the Cup will generate belief amongst the squad that they can go ahead and challenge for the league next season.

Revised dates for the previously postponed fixtures have been released, with The Hoops home tie to either Falkirk or Arbroath in the third round scheduled to take place on 3rd April 2021 as reported by Glasgow Live.

Of course, Celtic are defending the Scottish Cup which will offer inspiration to the club as they bid to make it five-in-a-row for the first time in the history of the competition.

Realistically speaking, the Scottish Cup is the only trophy that they can win this season. Coming out victorious is imperative for the club to finish off a disappointing campaign on a high note.

Obviously, one can see this as a negative as well. The Hoops have not been in form throughout the course of the season and that might provide an opportunity to their rivals to win another trophy amidst their struggles. But the club must view this as an opportunity and go all out to capture some silverware.
