John Kennedy is currently the interim manager of Celtic after Neil Lennon stepped down from his role following a defeat at the hands of then bottom-placed Ross County. And while it would be wrong to count out the chances of him being named the permanent manager, it is expected that that the club will go more someone with more experience in the summer.
In that regard, a number of names have been linked with the club. The Eddie Howe and Rafa Benitez rumours have been doing the rounds for months, while Frank Lampard, Steve Clarke and Roberto Martinez have been added to the mix as well.
There is one name though that not many would have thought of. And that is of Spanish manager Domenec Torrent.
But according to highly-respected journalist Guillem Balague, he could be a very interesting choice on the part of The Hoops. He tweeted out:
Well, wouldn't that be interesting! @DomeTorrent would be in my eyes a very exciting move. Number two to Pep at Bayern and City, and a great believer in possession based football and in the need to give spectacle to fans https://t.co/WRIPX0aJxX

Torrent would certainly be an interesting choice but would it be the right one for Celtic?
Torrent started his management career in the lower leagues of Spain. But his career changed when he joined Pep Guardiola, who was then at FC Barcelona B, as a technical analyst.
Ultimately, Guardiola would go down as one of the most successful managers in history and Torrent was a part of his coaching team at FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City. He would get back into management in 2018 with New York City.
There he had a decently successful spell before parting ways. Following that, he was appointed by Flamengo but lasted there only a few months.
Now, for a man who was a part of Guardiola’s coaching team for over a decade, it is not hard to see his philosophy or vision. But the question is, is he the right man for Celtic?
At this point of time, probably not. Despite the impressive Guardiola connection, Torrent has not shown that he can deliver trophies as a manager himself. And while him being at Celtic would certainly be an interesting project, at this time, they probably need someone who is a proven winner.
