With a number of players expected to leave in the summer and a new manager believed to be coming in, Celtic will undergo massive change over the course of the next few months. And that will include a number of new faces arriving at Parkhead in hopes of helping the side challenge for the Scottish title once again next season.

One such player is believed to Sheffield Wednesday’s Liam Shaw, who has emerged as a very promising youngster for the Championship side ever since making the jump to the senior team but looks set to head for Glasgow at the end of this campaign.

Shaw’s contract will run out at the end of this season and it is believed that Celtic have managed to agree a pre-contract deal with him. Although no official confirmations have been made yet, it does look like the move will indeed happen.

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri’s comments appeared to suggest the same. As reported by Examiner Live, he said of the situation:

"“We tried to extend his contract but the agent asked to wait and wait. We knew something was wrong and it’s normal in football.“When a player tries to be good, then they already try to find another club.“It doesn’t mean Celtic looked after him a long time.”"

Celtic could have gotten themselves a future star in the form of Shaw

Shaw has already shown a lot of quality in the limited amount of appearances that he has made over the course of his short senior career till now.

He possess great versatility, with the ability to play in central midfield as well as central defence. And many even believe that Celtic could turn him into a centre-back eventually, similar to Kristoffer Ajer.

That is a discussion for the future though. For now, it looks like that although the formalities are yet to be completed, The Hoops have indeed managed to get a deal over the line for the highly-rated youngster.

What is more is the fact that his contract is up at the end of the season and the club will have to pay just a £300,000 fee to secure his services, which considering his massive potential, is nothing but a bargain.
