There is no hiding from the fact that Celtic’s recruitment in recent years has left a lot to be desired. This summer was the perfect example of that. The club signed David Turnbull, Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas for a combined fee of around £12 million. High profile names like Shane Duffy and Diego Laxalt were brought on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion and AC Milan respectively. And Mohamed Elyounoussi’s stay was extended for another season as well.

Out of all these signings, Turnbull can be considered the only hit and he is expected to be a major part of this team for years to come. Elyounoussi has been decent when given the chance as well but recently, they have been few and far between. The rest of them have failed to make their mark at Parkhead.

The January loan signing of Jonjoe Kenny has appeared promising till now though. With both Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed leaving, the Everton man was brought in to fill the void.

If he does manage to impress till the end of the season then the club could start thinking about signing him on a permanent basis. And it looks like he might be available on a cut price deal next summer.

Celtic might have a chance at signing Jonjoe Kenny

Originally, Everton were believed to rate Kenny at around £10 million. And it is safe to say that Celtic probably would not be ready to pay that kind of a transfer fee for the player, considering there all-time record is the £9 million they paid for Odsonne Edouard.

As reported by Liverpool Echo, The Toffees might have to bring that asking price down in the summer though, with the player entering the last year of his contract soon. As a result, the Hoops might have the chance to sign him on a cut price deal, although it has not been revealed yet what kind of fee Everton will be looking for.

It will all depend on how Kenny finishes this season though. If he does continue to impress for The Hoops all the through, including in the two games against the Rangers, the club might very well be open to the prospect of shelling out a decent transfer fee for his services.
