With the current situation at Celtic, this will bring back some fond memories. After moving to Parkhead, Scott Sinclair made an immediate impact, however, his time at the club came to an end after a dip in form and following the arrival of Neil Lennon, who never appeared to have him in his long-term plans.

His departure from the club was not ideal, and not much has been ideal ever since. He was taken in so well by the supporters that they even made a wonderful hit chant about him.

That’s all in the past now though. Sinclair has moved to Championship side Preston North End now, where he is enjoying a very decent season, having scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 26 league appearances.

Now speaking with The Times and as reported by Daily Record, the former Celtic winger has shed some light into his departure and why he believes that it was his brilliant first season at the club which ultimately opened him up to a bigger microscope than most around him:

"“I think that, because I set such high standards for myself in my first season, it became an issue of me keeping up to those standards.“In my second season I still got goals, my tally was still OK, but some felt I was dropping (my standards).“If you set the bar so high – like in my opening season – then you do have to try to maintain that. I felt that, even when I was going through a dip, I was still scoring goals.”"

He also opened up about his difficult last few months at the club, when he found himself out of the first-team. As reported by Glasgow Live, he said:

"“My last six months at Celtic were a tough time but, at the same time, I’m gone from there now, and I’m enjoying my football again.”"

The 31-year-old was brought to Celtic by Brendan Rodgers in August of 2016, making an impact in his first appearance with the late winner at Pittodrie.

Sinclair went on to record 62 goals and provide 34 assists in 167 appearances with the Hoops, but his most impressive season was in 2016/17 where he scored 25 goals and provided 13 assists in 50 appearances. The next two seasons weren’t bad either, scoring 35 times along with 23 assists in 110 appearances.

He was also a member of the Treble Treble across his three full seasons with Celtic. And after leaving Parkhead just over a year ago, has scored eight goals this season in the English Championship with 14th place Preston North End.
