Celtic have been constantly linked with Eddie Howe over the past several months, as it looks likely that the club will show Neil Lennon the Parkhead exit door at the end of the season. The former Bournemouth manager has been one of the favourites to replace the Northern Irishman and it is not hard to see why the Hoops would want him.

Howe did a spectacular job during him time at Bournemouth. When he first took over at Bournemouth they were in League Two. He would lead them to promotion though before moving to Burnley. He did not have a bad spell at there either, finishing 8th and 13th respectively in his two seasons there before leaving due to personal reasons. From there, he would return to Bournemouth for a second spell in which he would make his name.

He would guide The Cherries from League One to the Premier League inside just three years and then kept them in the top flight of English football for five impressive seasons. He incredible achievement to say the least.

Thus, it is not surprising that many clubs are after his signature. As reported by The Sunday Mirror (21/02, page 72) and as cited by HITC, Howe is now on Crystal Palace’s wishlist to replace Roy Hodgson at the end of the season.

Celtic must move quick to secure Eddie Howe’s signature

Howe might have been out of football since last August, but he will not have a hard time finding a club that is willing to sign him as manager. As a result, Celtic must move quickly if they want him in the dugout come next season.

After some of the results in recent months and the fact that Lennon is still the manager at Parkhead, it looks like the club have no plans of making a major change before Peter Lawwell by the incoming Dominic McKay. And when that happens, getting a deal over the line for Howe must be one of the first things that he attempts to do.

Of course, Celtic might not be able to compete with Premier League clubs when it comes to contracts but they will give Howe the chance to take them to the Champions League and hopefully a decent budget to rebuild this team. Hopefully, that and the history of the club will be enough to bring him to Parkhead.
