Celtic star might save the club £7.2 million in the summer

It’s great to see a Celtic player hit a run of good form and make a real contribution to the team. We’ve seen a good example of that over recent games, much to the surprise of many doubters. In the earlier part of the season there was plenty of concern from fans about our full-backs. When Diego Laxalt was signed on loan back in October it looked like he would be the answer.

Taylor was getting forward often but it is safe to say that he was not the most effective player on the offensive end of the pitch. As a result, it was no surprise when Laxalt got the starting position for a while.

Taylor though has worked hard and managed to get his place back in the team ahead of Laxalt. And he has taken that opportunity well. He is looking like a much better player now, so much so that he has started the last 8 matches.

Taylor seems more comfortable and confident on the pitch now. He’s been playing some much better balls into the forwards and while there is always room for improvement, his final ball has significantly improved.

Greg Taylor has looked like a different player in recent games for Celtic

No doubt there are some detailed statistics for that somewhere, let’s keep it simple here for now. The proof is evident from a growing assists contribution.

Taylor is in second place in the Celtic squad when it comes to assists with 7, as recorded by the Daily Record. Ryan Christie leads with 13 and just behind Taylor are Callum McGregor, Mohamed Elyounoussi and David Turnbull, all on 6 each.

If you’d rather have visual rather than statistical evidence, have a look at Odsonne Edouard’s super strikes against St Johnstone at the weekend.

In a season full of disappointing performances, it’s terrific to see a turnaround in a player’s form and a strong contribution being made. Let’s hope that he can keep it up moving forward and the club won’t even have to think about the £7.2 million that AC Milan want for Laxalt, as reported by the Daily Record.
