After the season that Celtic have endured, most fans would be surprised that Neil Lennon is still the manager of the club. Yet, there is a genuine possibility that he won’t just stay on till the end of this campaign but beyond this as well.

Now, there is no denying that Lennon has been an absolute legend over the years. But it is time to admit that he must be allowed to leave if the Hoops are to progress in the right decision.

Even when he was brought back for a second stint after Brendan Rodgers left, there were concerns that he was not good enough to take over the mantle from the tactician. And over time, those fears have unfortunately turned out to be true.

But the club have decided to stick with him through thick and thin. And now, they have also started to prepare for next season, with a pre-contract deal done for Liam Shaw. But does this suggest that Lennon will staying at Parkhead beyond this season.

There might be a real possibility that Lennon will remain at Celtic

Neil Lennon’s recent comments about being involved with the club’s planning for the next transfer window do suggest that he might be in their future plans. As reported by the Daily Record, the manager said:

"“I haven’t said I wouldn’t be. I’ve not yet spoken to Dominic McKay, but I speak to Peter every day. I speak to Dermot, I speak to Nick Hammond. Yes, of course, I’m involved in the planning for the next transfer window.”"

Now, this is no guarantee that he will stay beyond this season. After all, he is the manager of the club and they are expected to take his advice over signings as long as he is there. In fact, Peter Lawwell himself will be leaving at the end of the season and there are serious concerns over the Parkhead future of Nick Hammond as well.

It is important to remember that the club did not spend any money in the January transfer window despite getting a significant fee from the departure of Jeremie Frimpong. And while that will go some way in balancing the books, you would have to think that they would have made an investment if the Hoops were still in the middle of a title race.

Thus, it might be too early to judge the club’s future plans and they will only become clear when Dominic McKay replaces Lawwell at the end of the campaign.
