After the season that Celtic have endured, it is safe to say that there not too many areas that they have done well in. But even then, the team’s defence has stuck out as especially weak compared to the other positions. And it will certainly need reinforcements in the summer if they are to put up a title challenge next season.

The signing of Shane Duffy from Brighton and Hove Albion on a season-long loan has turned out to be an absolute disaster as the Republic of Ireland international continues to struggle for form and confidence. On the other hand, Christopher Jullien has spent the majority of the season on the sidelines, struggling with multiple injuries.

Kristoffer Ajer is the only defender who has managed to stay fit and do well but even he might be on his way out of the club in the summer. Thus, signing a new centre-back must be on the top of the club’s wishlist.

That man could end up being Bosnia and Herzegovina international, Sinisa Sanicanin, who currently plays for Serbian club Vojvodina but will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Sanicanin could be a shrewd signing for Celtic

Having scored 3 goals from the back, Sanicanin is one of the biggest reasons why Vojvodina find themselves sitting at third in the Serbian league. As a result, it is not hard to see why Celtic would be interested in making a move for the 25-year-old, especially since he is out of contract soon. But it is safe to say that they will have to do well if they want to get a deal done for the Bosnian.

He has caught the eye of clubs around Europe with his performances, with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas also after his services. Other than them, Romanian side Craiova are also interested, as reported by Daily Record.

Thus, if Celtic do actually want him, they must move quick in order to get a deal over the line as soon as possible. After what happened with the Ben Davies move in January, they should know the value of not leaving things too late.
