Celtic have endured a nightmare season to say the least. Nobody could have foreseen them falling 21 points behind the Rangers by early February. And on current form, there is a huge chance that the gap will increase moving forward.

At this point of time, chances are very slim that the Rangers are going to slip up to the point where the Hoops are back in the running for the title. While Steven Gerrard’s side have shown in the past that they can collapse when under pressure, they are yet to taste defeat in league competition this season.

As a result, the only thing that Neil Lennon’s side can do at the moment is finish the season strong and secure the second spot. They have been handed a major boost in that regard as they have been handed a triple injury boost.

Of course, the big one is the return of James Forrest to training, who has been out for months with an ankle injury. As reported by The Scotsman, Lennon said:

"“Jamesy Forrest is back in training but obviously tomorrow night is too soon for him. So that’s a welcome boost to the squad.“Shane Duffy had a bit of a bug in the last couple of days but trained today. Ryan Christie is fit and back as well.”"

James Forrest’s absence has shown his value to Celtic

Those with a good memory will remember that although the club were struggling to put in good performances even when Forrest was in the team, they were finding ways to win games back then.

That changed drastically after he was put of action due to an ankle injury though, which has kept him on the sidelines for almost five months. Unfortunately, his absence coincided with some of the worst football that Celtic have played in recent memory.

So, while he has received a lot of criticism for his performances over the past couple of seasons, it is clear that he remains a huge part of this squad, both on and off the pitch. And it will be a huge boost when he is back playing on the pitch once again.
