Celtic appear to be headed for a complete summer overhaul after a disastrous 10IAR campaign. It has been already confirmed that Peter Lawwell is set to step down from a role that he has held for the past 17 years and will be replace by Dominic McKay.
On the other hand, Neil Lennon is also expected to be shown the exit door after failing to guide the team to success in the most important season in the history since 1967. And a number of high profile players like Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie are expected to follow as well.
Those are not the only changes that are set to take place at the club though. As reported by The Scottish Sun, they look set to make a move for Manchester City’s “transfer guru”, Fergal Harkin, as their new director of football.
Although branded as a “transfer guru”, in fact Harkin is the football partnerships manager at Manchester City and a key member of Pep Guardiola’s backroom unit. He is involved with loaning out the club’s youngsters and with how frequently the Hoops have been in contact with the Premier League giants in recent years regarding loans and transfers, clearly the Irishman is no stranger to Celtic.

Harkin could be a shrewd acquisition for Celtic
Harkin will bring with him the experience of working for one of the biggest clubs in the world and also a wide variety of contacts that you make when working for a club of that size.
Director of football is a position that is becoming increasingly prominent in the modern game. And although it could be a perfect role for a former player, giving the job to someone like Harkin is not a bad starting point for the Hoops.
Recruitment has been a huge worry for the club in recent years with the club signing multiple players who have failed to make an impact since coming in. Hopefully, someone of Harkin’s reputation and experience can come in and fix those issues quickly. And the fact that he works primarily with young players is a major positive as well.
