A massively important upcoming fixture for Celtic had been rumoured for a move for quite some time and has finally been confirmed for its new date.

In a match between what are currently the top two sides in the league, Celtic’s Saturday, March 20th clash with the Rangers has finally been confirmed to have been moved to that Sunday, March 21st, per the club’s official Twitter account.

The first two Glasgow Derbies this season have swung in the Rangers’ favour, with a 2-0 Rangers victory at Parkhead in mid-October followed by an even more unfortunate 1-0 victory for The Hoops’ cross-town rivals in early January.

The latter was a match that Neil Lennon’s side were in complete control of before they suffered a late red card followed by an own goal, dropping three points despite the Rangers having no shots on target for 90 minutes.

Celtic still have a lot to play for

While it is no secret that Celtic have had their struggles this season, the clash looks to be an exciting one regardless, and will likely still have implications for The Hoops, who now find themselves fighting to finish second in the league table.

Steven Gerrard’s side currently hold a 23 point lead over the reigning Scottish champions, although the Hoops do have two games in hand over the current leaders. While it is unlikely Lennon’s Bhoys could surpass the Rangers for the title, they will still want to win the remaining two Derbies and prevent their rivals from ending their season unbeaten in the league. Of course, pride also players a huge part in any Glasgow Derby.

The club will look to continue their winning ways coming off a spirited 4-0 victory with a match against 10th placed Motherwell on Saturday followed by 6th placed St. Mirren next Wednesday. And you never know what can happen in football if things start going their way.
