It is safe to say that nobody could have foreseen the nightmare season that Celtic have had to endure in their failed quest to secure a historic 10IAR.

The title race was over in early January itself and now, there are doubts whether the Hoops can even finish second at the rate that they have been dropping points recently. Naturally, everybody is on the edge and it should not come as a shocker if there are arguments in the dressing room.

That appears to have been the case between Leigh Griffiths and Neil Lennon. With Celtic 2-1 down against St Mirren, the striker was inexplicably brought off in favour of Tom Rogic at half-time and has not featured since.

If Frank McAvennie is correct, then there might have been an argument between the player and the manager. As reported by the Football Insider, he said:

"“He is out of the team again and I do not know why. I do not get it because he is the best finisher at the club.“I heard there was an argument at half-time. But it does not matter if you like the guy, I am a great believer in that. Manager and player do not have to get on, it is about playing the best players. Managers have to swallow their pride.”"

Griffiths has had his problems at Celtic in recent times

To be very honest, Griffiths is not someone who stays out of the limelight for too long. On his day, he is still a brilliant player though and on merit, he should be starting in an underperforming team.

It has appeared for quite some time though that Lennon is not too keen on the striker. He was left out of the team’s pre-season tour to France after turning up to training lacking fitness. And following that, he was left out of the team for quite some time, only being brought back when the Hoops were struggling with both injuries and lack of goals.

And he has provided goals when given the chance. Griffiths has 6 goals and 2 assists to his name this season despite featuring just 14 times for a combined 661 minutes. That is a very good return. But despite that, it looks like he might be out of the team for the foreseeable future once again if the rumours are indeed true.
