As Celtic stumble from one disaster to the other, it is clear that things need to change at the club. Unfortunately, it does not seem like the board are planning to make those changes before the summer.
It has already been confirmed that Peter Lawwell will step down at the end of the campaign and Neil Lennon should have been gone already but has somehow survived till now despite being 23 points behind the Rangers and the league being virtually over in January itself.
The fans have been demanding change for months now with many calls even going back to even November. The board even promised that there would be a review of the situation in January. Well, we are at the end of January and Celtic have managed 6 points from a possible 18 this month. If there indeed was a review, it is hard to fathom how they ended up coming to the conclusion that Lennon was still the man for the job.
Michael Stewart has raised an issue though which the board cannot ignore, and that is the impending season ticket renewal:
Celtic have so many big strategical decisions to make and very little margin for error now. I’d imagine with the sale of season tickets on the horizon it’ll mean they’re in a race against the clock to start showing the fans those decisions are afoot if not already made.

Celtic need to take some tough decisions and quickly
There is no excitement around the club at the moment. 10IAR is gone, we are out of the League Cup and who knows what will happen with the Scottish Cup. After winning the Quadruple Treble, there is a very real danger that we will go trophyless this season. That is quite a sudden fall from grace for a side that has known nothing but success over the past decade or so.
The Celtic fans deserve a lot of credit for coming out and renewing their season tickets despite knowing that there was a real possibility that the entire season could be played behind closed doors, which is exactly what has happened till now. And can anyone blame them for not doing the same this time around, after the season that the club have suffered.
Of course, it is not hard to change a mood around a football club. Bring in a new manager like Eddie Howe, make a couple of exciting signings and people will be excited for next season. That is easier said than done at this point though.
