By now, the disastrous aftermath of Celtic’s Dubai winter training camp is no secret. The trip should have never taken place and ended up with a couple of players testing positive, and 13 of them being placed in isolation along with Neil Lennon and John Kennedy.
Any hopes that the Hoops had of chasing down the Rangers in the Premiership were over after the news broke out. And since then, the club has managed just one win. Clearly, whatever the training camp was intended for, has not worked out, like most things this season.
With most of their squad gone, the club were forced to call back some of their players from loan. One of them was Scott Robertson, who did not end up playing any role though.
He was at Gillingham in League One and made 19 appearances for them this season, racking up some decent minutes for them. Now, he will be going away on loan to League One once again but this time to Doncaster Rovers as reported by Celts Are Here.

It could be a great opportunity for the Celtic youngster
Robertson does have a good upside but at this point of time, he won’t get many minutes if he stays back at Parkhead. Thus, this is the best move for his career.
In many ways, this is an upgrade for the youngster. While Gillingham were at 12th in the League One table, Doncaster Rovers sit at 4th and will be challenging for promotion, which could provide a brilliant learning opportunity for the Celtic youngster. That’s quite something for a player of his age.
Obviously, minutes on the pitch matter as well and if the move does go through, Robertson will be hoping that he is given some decent playing time in the business end of the season, which will be huge in his development as a professional footballer.
