Celtic are about to make massive £10 million mistake
When you sit 23 points behind your biggest rivals in the league table, it is understandable that a lot of the players are not happy. Especially those with ambition. And as Celtic’s 10IAR campaign continues to crumble around them, it looks like they are set to lose a lot more than just the title race.
Neil Lennon dropped an absolute bombshell today when he announced that Jeremie Frimpong was very close to leaving the club. A significant offer had come in from Germany and it is likely that the move will go through.
The youngster is currently in Germany speaking with the club. While they were not named by Lennon, it is believed that they are none other than Bayer Leverkusen. The Bundesliga side are apparently willing to pay an initial £10 million for the Dutch right-back, which could rise to as much as £11.5 million.
Clearly, for that fee, Celtic are willing to let Frimpong leave, especially in the current financial situation. But it is a decision that could come back to haunt them and soon.
Celtic might be about to make a huge mistake
As reported by Sky Sports, Lennon said:
"“Jeremie is abroad at the moment speaking to a club, so that deal looks like it may go through.“The player made it clear… this hasn’t appeared in the last couple of days, this has been in the back for the last six or seven weeks.”"

It is surely a huge profit that the club will be making in a short period of time. But it is hard not to feel that they should have held on until the summer before making a decision on the defender’s future.
Frimpong was clearly someone who enjoyed playing for the Hoops. But after the form that they have showcased this season, it is hard to blame him for wanting to leave. It goes without saying that his ultimate goal was to leave for a more lucrative league and the chances of that would continue to reduce the longer he played for an underperforming Celtic side.
This January though, not many clubs have the money to spend on transfers. As a result, it is easy to get a bargain. And that is exactly what Bayer Leverkusen will be getting if they manage to get this deal done.
And with the promise that Frimpong has already shown in his short career, we would not be surprised if they manage to make a hefty transfer profit on the Dutch youngster in the near future.
