It is safe to say that not many would have expected Celtic to collapse in the manner that they have this season. Looking at this team, nobody would believe that they had won nine straight league titles and were going for a historic 10IAR.

Naturally, questions have been raised against Neil Lennon. The Northern Irishman was not a popular choice when he returned for a second stint following the departure of Brendan Rodgers in the middle of the season.

The success was there for all to see though as the team were perfect domestically. That was until the start of this season. It looks like either the pressure of 10IAR has gotten to the players or there is something going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

Either way, all hopes of winning the league this season have been completely shattered. Yet, Lennon somehow has managed to avoid all storms and remains as the manager. And that might continue till the summer, even though there is no signs of results improving.

Celtic might ‘prefer’ keeping Neil Lennon till the summer

According to the Daily Record, the club ‘would prefer’ to let the manager see the season out before they make an overhaul of their football operations. It is not just Lennon whose future is in doubt here, as Peter Lawwell and Nick Hammond might not remain at Parkhead for much longer either.

This kind of an approach does suggest that the board have completely given up on the season and are looking ahead to the next campaign instead. There is a big problem with that line of thinking though.

The Hoops are dropping points left, right and centre at the moment. They are winless this year, having managed just 3 points from 4 games. And if the results don’t improve soon, they might very well be in a fight for second spot with Aberdeen and Hibernian.
