Celtic’s season continues to sink deeper with every passing matchday. The club have dropped nine points this year already, as they remain winless in 2021, drawing three and losing one of their games till now. And things are not getting any better.

For months, there have been calls for Neil Lennon to be shown the exit door, after what has been a nightmare 10IAR campaign under the Northern Irish manager. And while the club have promised that they will review his position this month, recent reports have suggested that they would like to have him see out the season.

The club’s social media had gone silent after their 2-2 draw away at Livingston but came to life once again today. Many fans would have been expecting something different than a throwback video to better times.

Naturally, the supporters were not very happy, with most of them showing no interest in the video and asking for an announcement regarding the future of Lennon instead.

What if Celtic do not sack Neil Lennon?

Lennon has already admitted that he won’t walk out of Parkhead. As a result, the ball is in the board’s court now to make a decision.

There is a growing feeling that they might have already given up on this season and could be open to the idea of keeping hold of the manager till the summer before a complete overhaul. Of course, that comes with multiple risks.

Firstly, it could mean that they lose out on Eddie Howe. The English manager might be the best option available to Celtic at this point of time. But Newcastle United are also keeping tabs on him, which means that the Hoops must move quickly if they really want him at Parkhead.

Then there is the danger of missing out on second spot. While it would have been a remarkable thought at the start of the season, Aberdeen or Hibernian could actually catch up with Celtic if they continue to drop points at this alarming rate. Clearly, their performances need to improve. But will they, under Lennon?
