With 10IAR on the line, nobody would have seen Celtic’s season going the way that it has. It was always expected that the Rangers would put up a fight but the manner in which the Hoops have just fallen apart is extraordinary. They could not have had a worse season if they tried.

As things stand, although still mathematically not over, the league is a foregone conclusion to be very honest. Steven Gerrard’s side have an enormous 20 point lead at the top of the table and it is almost a miracle that Neil Lennon still finds himself as the Celtic manager.

But for how much longer? Lennon has already made it clear that he won’t resign as reported by The Scottish Sun. As a result, the ball is firmly in the board’s court to make a decision.

They had stated earlier that Lennon’s position at the club would be revaluated in January and Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has claimed that they will reach a decision by the end of this month.

It is time for Celtic to bring in a new manager

It is hard to think of a way that the board can continue to back Lennon. Many might claim that the season is now gone and they might as well let him see things out. But then there is a real danger that Celtic might not even finish second in the Premiership.

At the rate that they are dropping points at the moment, it is not hard to see either Hibernian or Aberdeen catching up soon. Maybe even both! And in that case, that would restrict their opportunities in Europe next season.

That could have a domino effect while recruiting a new manager as well as players in the future, as the club is expected to undergo an overhaul through the course of the next few months. Thus, it might be worth bringing in a new manager now. Hopefully that brings freshness to things around Parkhead and the Hoops can finish the season strong.
