We often see rumours in the media about clubs being interested in players from Celtic or the Rangers. One particular forward probably holds the record for the longest list of rumoured interest. Though what actually exists as bids will be debated for a long time.

We have of course seen interest expressed in Odsonne Edouard from a few clubs. It is highly expected that he will move on by the end of this season or soon after given his current contract with the Hoops only runs till the following year, summer of 2022.

Edouard’s form perhaps hasn’t been the best this season for Celtic but his talent is undoubted, his future is bright and he has been building a great reputation when playing for France Under 21s.

Edouard has been in astonishing form playing in that young team for France. He is the top all-time record holder for goals scored, with 15 goals in his 10 games played. So it’s no surprise that he’ll be well known in French football circles but also across Europe.

Could the Celtic star be off to Real Madrid?

Bringing those together is a report in the Daily Record now linking Edouard with Spanish giants Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane in his role as coach at the Santiago Bernabeu will no doubt have noted his France form and according to the report, he has personally recommended the player as a potential Madrid signing.

Zidane may still need to secure his own position there after their patchy run of form recently, but his signalling of new players will be regarded highly.

In the newspaper there is talk of a shock move to the Spanish capital. Given his potential and his PSG background there doesn’t seem too much surprise that Real Madrid may be interested. With their own attack aging and replacements needed, Edouard could indeed a candidate. Let’s hope any transfer fee reflects that potential.
