As the Celtic ship continues to sink further and further, the Sky Sports journalist has tipped them to begin their clear out immediately.

There is no point hiding from the truth or pushing back the inevitable any longer. The chances are high that Celtic will end this season trophyless. And it might be time for them to prepare for a battle for second place. That’s just the reality of their situation right now.

The Hoops could not have a worse season if they tried to do so. This campaign has been one shambolic event after the other. And they should just quit hoping that things will magically get better and start preparing for next season immediately.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph appears to be of the same view and he tweeted out his thoughts earlier today after Celtic could manage only a goalless draw against Livingston, leaving them much closer to the third spot than they are to the Rangers.

A clearout will be there at some point, that is clear. There are just too many players who want out and a manager, who probably would have been sacked a long time ago if not for his past exploits at the club. Now, why does it make sense for Celtic to start the clearout now instead of waiting for the summer?

There are quite a few reasons for that. Firstly, it is very likely that the transfer values of these players are falling with every passing week. Thus, it would make a lot of sense to cash out on some of them, especially those who do not have too long left on their contracts.

Yes, there will be more clubs willing to make a move in the summer but then the January window also sees multiple teams desperate to strengthen in order to save their season. Probably, with a bit of luck, the Hoops could get a few good offers.

Secondly, it also gives them the chance to bring in new players and get them accustomed to Scottish football. Things cannot any worse than they already are. And it will provide them to start next season with an unit that has already played together for quite some time.

Just trying to find silver linings in a sky full of nothing but dark clouds at this point of time.
