The Celtic star couldn’t hide his frustration with the team’s performance as they dropped two more points after a goalless draw against Livingston.

It is about time that Celtic forget about the title and start worrying about finishing second because if performances don’t pick up, that might be in danger sooner than you think.

In their three games this year, the Hoops have managed just two points. And the aftermath of the Dubai trip has made sure that even if Steven Gerrard’s side do collapse in the second half of the season, they will still walk out with the title. That is the kind of gap that has opened up already and it will only increase.

Callum McGregor is one of the few first-team players who was not forced into isolation after Christopher Jullien tested positive. And he seemed very frustrated with the team’s performance following their goalless draw against Livingston.

Speaking with Celtic’s official YouTube channel, he said:

"“Not good enough, took far too long to get going in the first half. We put ourselves under pressure, you know, didn’t really understand the game in terms of trying to build out, we’re putting ourselves under pressure and giving them territory. That’s what they want. Really, really poor.”"

To be very honest, it is time that Celtic start their rebuilding process now. There is no point waiting for the summer anymore. It would make more sense to let the wantaway stars go if they receive the right bid and start bringing in their replacements. That includes Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Olivier Ntcham and anybody else who doesn’t see themselves staying at Parkhead for much longer.

Getting new players in would at least give them the chance to get accommodated with the Scottish game and be in a better place at the start of next season.

Of course, the problem is that Neil Lennon is still the manager, with the promised ‘January review’ still pending. It would not be a surprise for him to see out this season though. Not because of the performances of course, because based on them he would have been long gone.

If by any chance, the board decide to show some ambition and bring in someone like Eddie Howe straightaway, that would make things easier for everybody involved.
