Celtic are reportedly interested in making a move for the Championship star whose contract will expire at the end of this season.

According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Celtic are keeping tabs on Sheffield Wednesday’s Adam Reach. The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the 2020/21 campaign, which means he can negotiate his future with clubs interested in signing him.

Positionally, the Owls man primarily operates on the left-hand side of midfield. However, he is also competent on the right, as a striker or even as an attacking midfielder which demonstrates his versatility. Distinctively, Reach possesses great technique when striking the ball and can score goals from anywhere.

This could provide the Hoops with an alternative outlet to break down stubborn defences, while also being compatible with the shoot on sight policy seemingly being utilised by them in recent fixtures.

Intriguingly, he is also one of Sheffield Wednesday’s main creative forces and is able to evade defender’s attention and lay on chances for teammates. Additionally, he carries a respectable turn of pace which could be vital to stretching the opposition backline to create opportunities for his teammates.

Potentially, Reach and Celtic could be a favourable match due to several relevant factors. Undoubtedly, the Hoops face the reality of multiple departures from the club in the next few months which will need to be addressed.

Given his broad range of attacking aptitude, as well as the likelihood of being around superior quality of players at Parkhead as opposed to Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday, there is a serious possibility that Reach could force his way into the Hoops starting eleven should a switch materialise.

Statistically he has endured a frustrating season with his current club, registering 3 goals and 2 assists in 26 games encompassing all competitions. Nevertheless, the Owls have significantly underperformed this campaign, as they languish in 21st place in the English Championship. Perhaps it would be unjust to judge Reach, due to the environment he finds himself in at present.

Celtic will need to act swiftly to acquire the Durham-born attacker, as Rangers are also apparently keen on tempting him across the city. Hopefully he would pledge allegiance to the Parkhead outfit if the situation ever comes to it.
