The Bournemouth scout’s claims will certainly excite Celtic fans who hope to see the club appoint Eddie Howe as the manager.

Eddie Howe is a man who has been linked continuously with the Celtic job as it has become abundantly clear that Neil Lennon’s days at the club are numbered. Despite his past successes, the Northern Irish manager has spectacularly botched the 10IAR campaign and although he still finds himself in the dugout, the Hoops need to hit the reset button next season.

If or when that happens, they would have a tough time finding someone as qualified as Eddie Howe. Now, he might have never won a title other than the Championship but the Englishman clearly has pedigree.

He carried a Bournemouth side from the League Two to the Premier League and kept them there for five years. That does take some doing for sure.

Thankfully, it does look like he will be more than interested in taking the Parkhead job. Speaking with the Celtic Huddle podcast, Bournemouth scout Mark Burchill said:

"“The thing about being manager of Celtic is, instantly, you are going to be playing in front of 60,000 fans. Not every Premier League club has 60,000 fans and the worldwide support that Celtic have got.“Having the opportunity to go and win trophies? I think that’s something that your normal Premier League manager can go ten or 12 years without winning any trophies. So I think that could be something that would entice him north of the border.“Also, I think the chance to play European football is something that would be a carrot for anyone down south who would look at it and say, ‘I never got the opportunity to work or play in Europe and win cups and leagues’.”"

Managing Celtic is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most managers. At times, it is us who end up underestimating our pulling power.

Think about it, the Hoops constantly challenge for titles and have the chance to make it into the Champions League as well, although they have failed to make the competition the last three seasons.

A manager like Howe should relish the opportunity to manage a club like this, where he will have a decent budget to spend and the chance to show his qualities on the European stage. Just look at what a stint at the club did for Rodgers.

The bigger worry is whether the board has the ambition to go after someone like Howe. More often than not, they go after people who have a history with the club. But this might be the time to change it up.
