The Premier League legend has been tipped to replace Neil Lennon next season after Celtic’s collapse under him in their quest to secure 10IAR.

At this point of time, it is hard to think of things that have not gone wrong for Celtic this season. It has been one thing after the other as the Hoops have stumbled throughout the course of their 10IAR campaign. And to be very honest, there is little to no chance of them managing to turn this thing around.

The Rangers have done something which they have not in the past, remained consistent throughout. The Hoops have not. And the 21 point gap between the two sides is prove of that.

While he is not the only one to blame for this collapse, it goes without saying that Neil Lennon should be gone at the end of the season. And when that happens, Wayne Rooney has been tipped to be the man to take over from him.

As reported by Glasgow Live, Jason Cundy said:

"“It will be interesting to see who takes the Celtic job because I can’t see Lennon hanging on after this season.“I just wonder who might be tempted up there, because what Steven Gerrard has done, Wayne Rooney for example, Frank Lampard after he’s won the title (audible laughing).“Steven Gerrard has gone up there and made a name for himself.”"

Wayne Rooney is currently the caretaker manager at Derby County, who are going through a nightmare campaign of their own and currently find themselves in the relegation zone of the Championship. And if you ask us, he needs to get more experience before he can take over at a club of this size.

He made a good start to his tenure as Derby County boss, going unbeaten in their first six games under him. But since then, he has lost three of their last four, proving that it is still very early to judge him as a manger. If he does manage to propel them up the table by the end of the season, things could change though.

Celtic would be much better placed going for a highly-rated manager Eddie Howe but you seriously have to wonder whether the board will show that kind of ambition.
