Celtic have called up four youngsters to their squad to take on Hibernian after Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and 13 players were forced into self-isolation.

There was always the feeling that Celtic had taken a terrible decision by letting the players travel to Dubai in the middle of a global pandemic for a warm-weather training camp.

It is always a risk traveling in this situation, as the chances of getting infected are very high and that has proven to be the case as the club confirmed earlier that Christopher Jullien had tested positive. As a result, Neil Lennon, John Kennedy along with 13 first-team players were forced to self-isolate.

This has left the Hoops in the tough spot. As they have already announced, the match with Hibernian will go ahead as planned. As a result, they are scrambling to fill up the numbers with so many players out of the picture.

As a result, they might have to rely on their youngsters to get them through this one. And The Scottish Sun have confirmed that they have called up four of them to take on Hibernian:

"A raft of kids including Karamoko Dembele, Armstrong Oko-Flex, Barry Coffey and Cameron Harper have been called up by Celtic for the clash."

That is the only positive that we can possibly take from this situation though, that it gives some youngsters opportunities that they wouldn’t have normally gotten. Hopefully, a few of them step up and make it count, hopefully giving them a spot in Neil Lennon’s plans even beyond this period.

Serious questions have to be asked about the club arranging a Dubai training camp at this point of time though. Even if it had all been planned beforehand, common sense should have prevailed and it should have been called off. Unfortunately, that did not happen and now we are paying the consequences.

With the Rangers already 22 points ahead, it is safe to say that after this incident, any last shred of chance of catching up is now gone.

We would like to extend our well wishes to Christopher Jullien and pray for his speedy recovery. Let’s also hope that nobody else ends up testing positive over the next few days.
