Celtic trail the Rangers by 22 points, but the former Scottish international believes that the title race isn’t over just yet.

Not even the most optimistic Celtic fan would predict them to secure 10IAR after falling significantly behind in the title race. Barry Ferguson has piled the pressure on the Rangers though. But his bold prediction includes the Hoops not dropping any points for the remainder of the season, which includes two wins over their Glasgow rivals.

He has reportedly been impressed with the new diamond formation in the Celtic midfield. If they can keep it up, Ferguson believes that the title challenge could still be on.

It took a while but Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull finally go their opportunity and have helped Celtic to some good performances recently. That comes at the expense of less playing time for the Scott Brown as well as Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham.

If the Hoops can tighten things up defensively and more routinely take their chances in front of goal, then they can become a whole other beast that hasn’t been seen this season yet.

This is what former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson had to say when speaking to Go Radio as reported by the Daily Record:

"“If Rangers can come through this month of January unscathed I think they will be in poll position to get the title. On the other hand, I don’t think Celtic will drop any more points. I do. I honestly think they will have got so much confidence from that performance (against Rangers) with the new players coming in and a new formation.”"

The Hoops would surely like to prove Ferguson right, but it will be awfully difficult with so much drama throughout the club this season, and especially now.

While they do sit 22 points behind Rangers, Celtic have four games in hand. If they win all remaining matches, including both Glasgow Derbies, the Hoops would be within four points of Steven Gerrard’s side. And one thing we know about them is that they do not quite perform under pressure. If things start to fall in favour of the quadruple treble winners, it isn’t quite as daunting as it is now.

Still, it’s an awful lot to wish and hope for after such a turbulent first half of the season, but the Bhoys have the talent to make it happen. First thing’s first, they have to start winning games. And then they can pray for a collapse across town.
