Odsonne Edouard’s Celtic future appears to have become much more clearer after the Frenchman decided to change his agent.

It is nothing new for Odsonne Edouard to be linked with a move away from Parkhead. The January transfer window is in full swing right now, however, it looks like the Frenchman wants to see out the season with Celtic before moving on in the summer.

The Hoops are a longshot to complete 10IAR after falling 19 points behind the Rangers but they still have a title to play for in the Scottish Cup. That will be the priority for the remainder of the season unless Steven Gerrard’s side figure out a way to collapse one more time.

The 22-year-old has been fantastic in front of goal throughout his Celtic career, scoring 72 goals and providing 35 assists in 151 appearances. This season has been a different story though. He has scored 11 goals in 23 matches, with four of them coming from the penalty spot.

That isn’t an awful record, but it certainly isn’t anything close to what the fans would have been hoping for. Now let’s see if he can rediscover his form in the second half of the season.

Edouard recently switched agents, and now Sky Sports have reported that he is planning a summer move elsewhere. His current contract expires in June of 2022.

Here is a bit of a dilemma for the Hoops. Should they try to sell him now and start the rebuilding process or wait for the summer?

If they were to sell him now, they would likely have to settle for a smaller price tag. Selling him now would also give them more time to find a replacement, although his presence would be missed for the next half of the season.

If they were to wait for the summer they could hope he improves his form, which would add great value and a higher transfer fee. They would also be able to keep him for the second half of the season and be more equipped to compete for the Scottish Cup and possibly reignite the title race if they get some favourable results.

Perhaps one thing keeping Edouard around through the end of the season is the Scottish Cup. Celtic still have a great chance of winning a trophy this season, something that isn’t a familiar feeling for most other clubs throughout Europe.

In the end, it is clear that Edouard has great ambitions, as he should. Moving now would leave a sour taste in the relationship between the Frenchman and club. A summer move would allow both sides to part ways on better terms.
